This was the last weekend of relaxed Connie for a while, or so I think. I’m going to try and handle all the finals stress that comes my way with a deep breath and confidence that I know what I’m doing in hopes that I can handle it with grace rather than full blown freak out. I have a feeling I’ll be fine! Anywho, here’s what I ate this week.
Thursday: I went to the pre-grand opening of the new Ritter’s location in Alhambra CA. If you want some indulgent food THIS will probably do it all for ya. I sampled some pineapple beer and my friend Jackie and I shared calalimari, bouillabaisse, bread, and some AMAZING chowder fries that have clam chowder AND cajun fries all stuffed together. Looking for some southern NOLA style cooking? This is your place when you aren’t there!
(Bouillabaisse, a fish stew with a tomato base + rice for soaking up the juice!)
*disclaimer: we barely put a dent in all this food. It was 3 pm and I wasn’t that hungry BUT I ate as much as a could and shared the rest with my dad!
Friday: Mostly wine after getting home from classes at 7 pm. The rest was leftovers that I forgot to photograph! I also ate lunch and breakfast but those were much of the same veggies/salads/pancakes.
Saturday: I took a barre class at Athleta, shopped around and then did some napping and some studying till I met Sarah (bff) for dinner and drinks at True Food Kitchen!
We split the grass fed burger cooked medium and agreed that it was the best burger we both have ever had. Bold, I know, but TRUE. We also had a giant salad but it came after this photo.
Post dinner was some ice cream/froyo from 21 Choices that reopened in Pasadena. Everyone GO GO GO. 72% dark chocolate + some peanut/almond one I forgot but tasted like a PB cup!
Post studying in the am I went to my Sunday workout (step class) and came back to shower and meet my friend Haley at Cafe Gratitude for vegan goodies and a nice catch up/chat! She is studying to become an RD too and is awesome! If anyone needs vegan goodies follow Haley and my friend Emilie !
After Cafe G I headed to mass and TJ’s for the week ahead!
Some nutrition news I read:
- A recent article published on the correlation between mental health and food insecurity (FI) stated that besides the obvious nutrition deficiencies that could come from FI, poorer mental health outcomes also followed.
- I’m so passionate about food availability for all. You will never see me posting about some expensive powder of 15.00 loaf of bread because I think food should be accessible for all. As an RD I hope to continue to educate audiences who need this education the most and that includes some of the lower income individuals who don’t have as many options as many of us at the grocery store. Mental health is also my jam. Everything sort of goes hand in hand.
What was the best thing you ate this weekend?!
