It has been a whirlwind of a month. How is it already the end of July? I’m pretty mentally exhausted as of late if we’re being honest here. It might look like I’m having a blast, which I am, but I also am so incredibly exhausted and I try and not let that show. I have a meeting with my psychiatrist to check in on my time off my anxiety meds soon and I’m going to bring these feelings up to her and see what she is thinking. Anywho, I haven’t let my blah feelings get in the way of too much lately especially this week! Here’s a little of what the week was like!
Wednesday night we ordered in Indian from our favorite local place in Glendale and I am always super satisfied with this meal. Tandoori chicken, garlic naan, veggie curry, and rice + greens! I was just catching up on friends and my thesis before I left for Vegas Thursday so I didn’t have too much going on for Tuesday/Wednesday besides practicing a little for my presentation and getting some materials together for my Thesis meeting Friday. Monday we were flying in from Chicago so that day was spent with my cousins and in the air!
Thursday was super cool because I went on my first sponsored trip with constancelyeating! I was flown to Vegas to IDEA/Blogfest to give a presentation for siggi’s dairy on incorporating siggi’s into a post workout refuel routine as well as a little bit about growing your social media presence. I left at 7 am from Burbank airport in LA, ubered to the convention center (and all around vegas) and was listening to speakers and walking around the food expo all day until I presented around 4 pm that afternoon. After that, I got to see my friend Alison who lives in Seattle but was in Vegas for work and that filled my heart up! I got back on a plane later that evening at 9:30 pm and got into bed around 12:30 am completely exhausted.
(I had to go see these canals by the Venetian!)
I learned a lot that day though! We had a great speaker that touched on the difference between people who are successful and people who are not. The only thing that is different abut those people are the choices they have made in life. Seriously. Think about it! If you add up all the choices you have made in your life up to this point it really is as simple as that. Successful people choose the harder choice more often and that’s really how they get to where they are and I am such a strong believer in that!
(lunch in vegas was a split chicken sandwich with chips! I ate a lot of weird expo food that day too so you know how that goes- just a big snakie mess)
So, needless to say, even though Vegas was exhausting I was so grateful for the opportunity to attend for a day with siggi’s and get some inspiration and reflection time!
Eats for the rest of the week were a lot of sandwiches like the one above. Cheese and crackers have also been a thing. Also, a lot of ice cream.
It has been hot as you know where lately and cones have just felt so right. This was rocky road eaten on the way to a meeting Friday. I also have been mentoring a Girl Scout in the area on her Gold Award project and I was able to come in and see her in action at an organization called Mother’s Club in Pasadena Friday as well. I was also able to talk to some moms about some of their nutrition questions and teach some cuties about the food groups. Let me just tell you, I have never seen such fascination with food models as these kids were with mine. We had circle time on the floor and chatted before coloring in some fruits and veggies!
Nothing makes me happier than spreading some nutrition knowledge. I had a huge smile on my face Friday. Awesome day. I got home around 6pm from the day and was ready to just take a bath, netflix, read, and SLEEP.
Saturday came around and I didn’t set an alarm. I also didn’t workout today because physical therapy this week has been hard on my body. My sister and I decided to grab some of our favorites from Cafe Gratitude and just meander around the Arts District for a while. It was so nice to not have plans for the day and to just be. We grabbed a cold brew from Blue Bottle too and it was glorious. This was the seasonal salad which involved grilled asparagus and peaches! Ohhhmyyygosh.
