I am finally in the groove of school thanks to google calendar and some good old fashion time. It feels so nice to have time blocked out- I feel so efficient and can really be diligent with the little school time I have left. Fridays are days I Zumba for an hour and block out about 5 hours for school work for 2 classes since most of it is article reading and it takes me a long time- I’m a slow reader.
Post Zumba second breakfast of toast, garlic-y eggs + banana PB choc chips + berries.
I ended up taking a cooking break to make this and ate it 3 different times this weekend since I was home alone with my parents away visiting my grandparents and I got lazyyyy.
After finishing school work I took a second to get a post ready for this week about the importance of having hobbies and then I got myself ready for dinner out with about 20 other YMCA volunteers before we leave to spend a week with high schoolers in Sacramento. I had some wine, lots of the loaded salad that has salami, cheese, and veggies + 2 slices of pizza!
I came home and crashed since I had to be up at 6 am to lead my hiking class Saturday. Long story short- parking was a nightmare (and there is no cell service to send an email blast out about a potential location change) and I ended up having to schlep my class up the mountain and let them fend for themselves because I couldn’t park and my students had to park over a mile down the steep road. I felt like I let them down but the important part was they hiked and I’m working on giving myself more grace in situations like that.
(2 blueberry waffles pre drive to hike- these are the Trader Joes ones- not a huge fan – I love Vans so much more)
I worked on assignments and grading all day while eating several snack plates and more soup + avo toast.
I took the dog for an hour long walk and a podcast listen and came back to watch a little Netflix and get ready to celebrate one of my sweet friends Spencer who just passed his last test to become a CPA! We went to Ceremony Bar in Studio City- super fun vibe and good margaritas.
Cleaned out the fridge with -arugula, eggs, leftover broccoli, and dressing for dinner before leaving.
(Came home to make some microwave tacos and a few spoons of ice cream and crashed by 11:30 pm)
Sunday was spent with my grandmother, Oma. We went to mass, enjoyed donuts together in the sunshine, and tried shopping for a blazer for me (conference this week). The shopping failed because she got really overwhelmed in the mall which made me sad because shopping used to be our little thing when I was growing up and I have to understand things aren’t the same. So much has changed in our family, most notably, my Otta (grandfather) passing my freshman year of college and it is still hard for everyone to deal with, my Oma included. I try and be her support system and make her laugh because I don’t think she gets a lot of that these days.
(Donuts after mass! I noticed Oma left her waffles in the toaster as we left so I thought she needed a blood sugar boost before getting on with the day. I let her taste mine (hearts) and she was like- bleh- mine was better- ha!)
We left the mall to run the rest of her errands and before I knew it 2 pm rolled around and I realized we skipped lunch and I had to make a brow wax appointment back in Glendale (40 minutes away). I tried grabbing an apple from Oma’s house and pushing through with the wax and some more errands I had hoped we would get done before lunch with Oma and then 4:30 rolled around and I was like NOPE. My blood sugar was at rock bottom and I was just angry with the world so I dropped the rest of the errands and stopped at the Habit for a burger on whole wheat with cheese and SP fries on my own. I needed to take care of myself so that’s what it looked like yesterday. I also missed my usual workouts and was feeling blah and like I really wanted to workout but knowing I might be better of with rest after the stress I put myself through so I just took a stroll with the dog and called it an evening.
I tried being productive at home and just was like ugh so I took a bath and watched the Good Doctor before crashing and setting intentions of having a really productive Monday morning! Today I have a big meeting about my dietetic internship- will report back with details!
Happy Monday 🙂
