Well hello friends!
Typical me saying that I’ll get a WIAW up for you and then not following through lately. TODAY though, I’m for real. May and Addie are staying with me now and it has been so incredibly fun being a (health) tourist in my own city. They have brought me to a Y7 hot yoga class, a soul cycle class, and like 5 places I’ve been wanting to try but haven’t had the time to go to. My faves thus far have been Blue Bottle Coffee and Honey Hi. We have been doing tons and I’m loving it! These humans are the same as me as well as the opposite at the same time and it’s wonderful to have friends who know what blogging , being in grad school and being in our early 20’s is like.
(Toast with scrambled eggs, radishes, and something v spicy (maybe chili oil?) + an AMAZING choc chip cookie made in house from Honey Hi)
(Bloggers being bloggers at Blue Bottle- don’t worry we got coffee too and its THE BOMB.COM)
Today however, I don’t get to explore as much with them since I have school still! This morning I cooked oats that while cooking toppled over the pot into the stove- it’s like it was my first time making oats or something! I ended up making them look delish in the end!
1/4 C stel cut oats cooked in a cup of liquid + 1 TBSP chia + nut butter, a spoon of 2% pear and spice Siggis fruit and apple chips!
Here’s what I brought for lunch!
Let’s go over what I packed for a day at school from 9 am-3 pm shall we? Almonds in their shell! I sort of felt like I was a cubs game in the middle of Maternal Nutrition eating these (lol) they make a great snack. Next up, Trimona Yogurt – a new Bulgarian yogurt I’ve recently tried that in contrast to other yogurts, is unstrained, so it’s a little grainy in the best way possible. It checks all my boxes- grass fed, whole milk (I like fat free too but this is a nice change up) good cultures, and organic! The sweeter comes on the side like a little chobani cup so it’s actually super low in sugar and you control how much you want to add. The flavor combos are also so unique!
I always pack a square bar just in case the snack hanger starts and I ate the full thing today! Oranges all sliced ready to go + a Trilogy kombutcha! Lastly my favorite salad with arugula, apples, avo, butternut squash, chickpeas, and Tessemae’s dressing!
I came home and ate one of these Ambitious Kitchen muffins + a blob of PB + some strawberries.
I did some studying and then met May and Addie at Bacari in Glendale for an AMAZING dinner. We wined and dined let me tell you. Here are my favorite items (more on the camera photos to come later!).
I got the house white to start and then we started with Beet Gnocchi and some roasted cauliflower. Both so unique and amazing. This is a tapas style sort of place so grab and friend and share!
This burger though… we had our beef well done with an egg on top over a crusty roll- ugh this is what dreams are made of. We also had some bomb fries also with an egg on top.
We had scallops over a carrot puree, salmon (pictured below) and I think thats all that’s not here!
How cute are they?! This salmon had roasted purple potatoes underneath soaking in all those juices. Perfection. The vibe is cozy and a little dark with overhead individual table lighting so it feels really personal. I’ll be back soon!
Last stop of the day was YOGA-URT duh! This has been my favorite ice cream place ever since it existed and we had to go experience it.
I FINALLY got to meet the owner. Every time I come in she hasn’t been there but tonight it happened and she is just the sweetest. We tried every flavor and I always end up with Peanut Butter and Chocolate. Vegan, creamy, thick AF , and filled with good scratch made stuff.
That was a freaking good day of eats. I feel blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people.
